The Jansen Foundation chose to acquire both the original Lynden City Hall and adjacent Steinhauer building for their future site of the Jansen Art Center, a multi-disciplined center to promote dance, music, fine art, sculpting, pottery and glass blowing. The 17,000 Sq. Ft. renovation includes complete electrical and mechanical upgrades, new elevator, improved overall accessibility, sound control and acoustical upgrades and structural rehab.
Situated on Lynden's prominent Front Street, both buildings are very much a part of the historic fabric, thus requiring attention to historic details, proportions, and building integrity.
