Puget Sound Energy wanted to modernize and upgrade their existing Bellingham Service Center, an essential facility serving Whatcom County. The 1970’s era, 10,000 sq. ft. existing service center was demolished and replaced with a new 28,000 sq. ft. structure.

The new structure provides 14,000 sq. ft. of office and operations space with the ability to expand to 28,000 sq. ft. with a future addition of a second floor. In addition a 14,000 sq. ft. ‘Line’ building adjoins the office building and provides space for loading dock, parts storage, vehicle maintenance, wire shop, transformer storage, and vehicle wash. Puget Sound Energy desired the new facility to have sustainable features visible to their customers and clients to demonstrate their commitment to the environment. Such features include: rain harvesting (grey water use only), low voltage lighting, and recycled materials use.
